Village near Noailles

Le Batut is situated in the heart of the exceptionally beautiful Plateau Cordais… a timeless pastoral landscape of meadows and vineyards, source of the famous Gaillac wine.

The landscape is punctuated with ancient stone villages, farms and churches.

Facilities available near Le Batut include:

  • Cycling.. fabulous local byways!
  • Horse riding.. ditto!
  • Tennis
  • Canoeing on the spectacular river Aveyron at St Antonin
  • Vineyard and gastronomic visits
  • Rambling trails and pic-nic sites
  • Historic heritage sites
  • First class restaurants
  • Wonderful local produce markets
  • as well as convenient day-to-day shopping within four miles of the house.

Our local vineyard, which, happily, is actually in our village of Noailles, is the Domaine de Bouscaillous. Go and introduce yourself to Annie and try her wonderful rosé, well chilled, on the terrace at le Batut!

Not far away there are other splendid winemakers.. try Labarthe, Lacroux, Larroque, Labastide, Brin, Mayragues, Salettes, Sarrabelle, Plageoles… the list goes on!

Quaint mediaeval Cordes-sur-Ciel and St-Antonin-Noble-Val (ancient town, made famous by Helen Mirren's film The Hundred Foot Journey and Cate Blanchet's Charlotte Gray) are easy drives from Le Batut, and stunning Albi with its cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum is only half an hour away.

Don’t miss the Albi bric-a-brac market on Saturday mornings, St Antonin’s animated produce market on Sundays or, for those lucky enough to be going at the right time in August, the wonderful Fete du Vin in Gaillac!

‘ We had a great holiday with our four children and the area around Le Batut is stunning with Cordes
on your doorstep
a real treat.’
